Why pay for Microsoft Office?

I decided this morning to upgrade to the latest version of Open Office. So I toddled off to their web site but to my surprise I found a basic download page with a notice saying:

Apologies - our website is struggling to cope with the unprecedented
demand for the new release 3.0 of OpenOffice.org. The technical teams are
trying to come up with a solution. Thank you for your patience.

Clearly the word has spread about this excellent piece of software.

Open Office is basically a free version of Microsoft's Office package. It allows you to run a very advanced word processor, spreadsheets and even Powerpoint presentations. In other words their is no reason to pay out hundreds of pounds for Office when you can get it for free here.

To give you an added incentive, here at BubbleCow we will accept submission in native Open Office file formats.
